Getting a Porsche for my 16th birthday-any tips?
I'm getting a Porsche soon-for my 16th birthday- is there anything I should know about the them? (I can't decide between a 911 and a Boxster) And I already know about the Insurance prices.
swim_fly--I've been doing extra chores/begging/and learning to drive since I was 13.
Start with a Boxster:
-- more forgiving handling, a plus for newer drivers
-- more economical (in a "Porsche" kind of way, that is...LOL)
-- less expensive, so when (not "if") it gets dinged you won't feel so bad
-- it comes standard as a convertible (+12,000 for the 911 convertible, over the coupe), and convertibles are way cool
I'm in agreement with other responders that getting something else as your first car--bigger, more practical, less expensive--would be a good idea. But if it's going to be a Porsche, make it the Boxster.
